Apologies. I got my first camera five years ago and Charmin has little to no respect on the forum.

Five years is MORE than enough time to get a decent image...at least in focus, but here you are, wasting your time. Get a clue or change hobbies.

Don't think Canon makes a 150-600. I have the G1 Tamron 150-600 and have been very pleased with it. No issues - and I've used it quite a bit. I suspect the Canon lenses are generally better quality, but I have no complaints with the Tamron and Canon doesn't even make a similar zoom lens. The G2 is an improvement over the G1 that I have.

"Canon Rumors" a few weeks ago mentioned Canon is thinking of producing a 150-600mm lens, but will not be a "L" quality lens. If it were you wouldn't have enough money to buy it.

I have the Sigma Contemporary 150-600mm and very happy with it. I highly recommend renting the Tamron to get an idea of what and how you'll be with it. The Canon 100-400mm is highly rated too. Once again, try it before you buy it. Good luck.

I am a Canon shooter. I have been on African safari and used the Tamron 150-600mm G2 with good success on a recent trip with a Canon 7D Mark11.
I previously owned the Tamron 150-600mm G1 and had problems with the focus. The G2 focuses much quicker than the G1 and is quite a bit lighter than the Sigma Sport model. One plus about Tamron is that they have a 6 year warranty.

I am a new user to this site. i must say it really turns me off when individuals post stupid remarks about someone making a simple spelling error whether accidental or on purpose. I don't think that this site is intended to get personal with sarcastic comments so my suggestion is to cease and desist with the sarcasm and stick to photography related comments.

Look at what you wrote. Quote="names of well know manufactures". It should have been ( well known). It shows that even you make mistakes. People that live in glass houses shouldn't talk about other peoples mistakes. Try an have a better attitude.....Rich

Journey, I bought the Tamron 150-600 mm lens a couple months ago to support taking photos of the eclipse. I had a 200-400 mm Nikon lens but it did not have enough magnification even with a 2X adapter. The Tamron lens is pretty good but in my use with a 2X converter the focus was very critical. Perhaps the auto focus would help things in general use but during the eclipse I was shooting with strictly manual settings as I manually stepped through capturing a breadth of exposures to assure I got at least some correct. I also discovered that my approach allowed me to capture a solar flare/ejection (4 o'clock position) that I could not see through the viewfinder. I also bought the lens as a factory refurbished unit to save money. Later on the same trip I took a lot of photos of sea birds but handheld the lens vice the solar photos which were all shot from a tripod with a remote release. I hope whatever you purchase fulfills your needs.

Peoples mistakes?....that should have been people's mistakes. Please apply your post to yourself or get out of your own glass house. Thanks for playing, though.

Thinking of buying 150-600 lens. Is there a big difference in Tameron and Cannon performance?

I'd say there is since I know 3 people that have, actually still have the Tamron lens and later bought the Canon (Canon is one n cannon shoots cannon balls) 100-400mm mark II. I had the older 100-400 and I sold it some years ago when all I was using was my Canon 500mm F/4 and my 300mm f/2.8 . But I wanted something lighter that zooms so I bought the bullet and bought the new 100-400 Mark II and love it. I went to the zoo with a good friend that still has the older push pull Canon 100-400 zoom lens and we traded off and compared images. Night and day. The Mark II is way superior. Good luck with your decision.

You really do suck. No matter what you say you are wrong. That is what I was trying to show you. I don't claim to be perfect but you seem to think you are but trying to explain that to a person like you is impossible. I wasted my time in trying to show you that even you can make a mistake....Rich

I have a Sigma 150-600 Sport. Love it. Used it in Africa on safari, hand held, heavy if held up constantly (which is not the case with me). Sharp photos in all conditions.

Blah, blah and blah. Good idea to invest your time doing something else. Trying to sound smart is not working for you I'm afraid.
