Thinking of buying 150-600 lens. Is there a big difference in Tameron and Cannon performance?

==============

I - for one, Here - am very happy with the performance of my Tamron 150 - 600... I was the first Photographer in Saint Louis, Missouri to own one. I did have a little problem with it, however, it was really my fault - as I do not keep it in the "Lens Case".... It resides on a Canon 5-D Mark II on the seat next tome when I drive... ALWAYS. I was on a trip to Utah and spent about two weeks there... I got a lot of dust inside the lens. Last year I sent it in to Tamron (taking advantage of the six (6) year warranty ---- I got it back in 10 days from sending... Not Only did they clean all of the Utah dust out of it... Tamron put in a new gasket, and a new "objective" lens (front lens)... Total to me Including shipping from the store, (Schiller's Camera, St. Louis) was 0.00... So Tamron does stand behind their products....

You must have a LOT of experience with matters regarding that. I dont think anyone here cares to know though.

You are a perfect reminder, don't short sell yourself.

Journey: I have 5 lenses, 4 Canon "L" series lenses including the 70-200 f2.8 LII. I also own the Sigma 150-600 it's the only non-Canon lens I own and I'm extremely pleased with it.

Chapmen: Get over yourself. Not everyone is perfect. Didn't your mother ever teach you that if can't say something nice, don't say anything at all?

But are you following your own advice...just saying...

Best,
Todd Ferguson

I do. Thanks for noticing it. If you did not notice them you may be worse than the OP.

I don't need the ego boost to correct others all the time.

Glad you look up to me. Sadly it does not reflect in your photography yet. Keep at it. Perhaps someday you will have an image worth looking at....or at least in focus.

I have had a Tamaron 200-500 which I used for a few years and was pretty happy with it. I just sold it and bought the Sigma Contemporary 150-600, and I'm extremely happy with it. I don't shoot with the long lens very often, but I do think that the Sigma is a bit better in terms of quality than my Gen 1 Tamaron. Was it enough of a difference to really justify switching. No, but sometimes GAS attacks need an antacid.

Tamaron? Really? Is spelling TAMRON a difficult task? Wow....

The first one is price and you will probably need an FD adapter for unsing the Canon 150-600/5.6 lens! It is an L lens, so its not cheap!

Quite typical of your total lack of class.

Sigma and Tamron 150 600 mm lens
the Best advice Since you are looking at making an investment in a lens and it is an investment Along with Money is Your Time and Happiness or Disapointment. If you are pleased with the performance and its ability to assist and I mean assist you in ACHEIVING your goal this lens will be a partner in your photographic vision if Not it will bcome full with dust and disgust. Both are very good lens I TRIED BOTH they will deliver what they promise or repaired or replaced or refunded by a reputable dealer. So what are the expectations YOU DESIRE find out if its for you and meets your needs and or wants. Many times I Will rent the lens for a time get used to it to include weight lens performance and how much use it will really get. Does it meet my needs and expectations or was this just something else my brain said get it camon get it camon you know you want it and never need it or use it again. And if it doesnt meet any of your real wants or needs its MAN OH MAN IM SURE GLAD I DIDNT BUY THIS or YEA THIS IS IT YEP I WANT THIS AND ITS WORTH EVERY DAM DIME and now Your comfortable plunking down the cash OR NOT measure 2 or even 3 times cut that lumber once correctly

Its not my fault that you are a mediocre photographer. If you dont want the confrontation or lack the cojones to face it better to just shut up and stop trying to find me. You look for me.....you will find me. Plain. And. Simple.
