Captured on the Alpine Tundra just moments before sunset. This rainbow suddenly appeared after a deluge. I ran more than a quarter mile to get in this position as I searched for a composition. Just after I took this shot I was pelted by heavy hail (almost half inch size) and the rainbow quickly faded. I was soaked and freezing, but I like the resulting photo. I always say, bad weather makes good photos. Please view on dark background (use download)
Thanks for looking.

Thanks angela k. It always amazes me how quickly these moments fade. Such beauty in nature--all gone in an instant.
I appreciate you looking.

Excellent job. That is one of the brightest rainbows I've seen. It was worth the effort (especially since it was you and not me doing it).

Thanks for looking. You are quite right----this was one of the brightest rainbows I've seen as well. It didn't last long and it began to fade. Which was why I was running to get to a suitable composition. From the time I saw it, got out of the car and it started fading it was only about 3-4 minutes. This just popped out when the rain stopped. This photo is a bit soft because of all the mist in the air and a touch of light fog blowing past but it was an amazing sight.
