Hello,

I am new to this forum. I was a very enthusiastic amateur back in the 1980s and 1990s with my EOS 650 and a variety of lenses. I upgraded to an EOS 10D when they came out. I have not been very active in the last ten years or so, but am getting excited to get back into photography. I was excited when the EOS 6D Mark II was announced and prepaid for one immediately. I ordered the one with the f4 static lens and am still waiting for it. After reading some of the reviews of this camera, I am wondering if I should cancel my order and wait until an improved full frame is offered before I upgrade. Upgrading to the 5D Mark IV is out of the question as I am still having trouble wrapping my wallet around the price of the 6D Mark II. I would like to stay with Canon as I still have glass that I can use on the 6D II. I would be using this as an all around camera, shooting primarily travel, landscape, and family events. I would also like to use it to capture waterfalls, lightning and fireworks.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Mark

Welcome to the forum. The 6D mk II is the improved version. Of the 3 Full Frame models Canon makes, the 6D is the most recent to be updated and the other two are not in your budget. You could cancel and spend a little more on a 5D mk III but that would be a step back in the improvement department, although it's light years ahead of your 10D. If you don't really need a full frame you could cancel the 6D II order and get a new or refurbished 80D. The 80D may be crop sensor but it's still a really good versatile camera. I have one and use it almost as much as my 5D mk IV.

Aloha Mark and welcome to UHH. Not being a Canon user I can't give any advice on the individual camera. If you are having doubts it just may be worthwhile for you to cancel the order. Get the camera you will feel comfortable with. I can understand the desire to want a FF compared to a crop sensor (DX). I know Canon makes some very good DX cameras and you might look at them. To save even more money you might look at a refurbished camera whether it be a FF or DX model. They would still provide you with a better camera than what you currently have. Hoping to see some of your photos in the near future.

Welcome to UHH Mark, glad you joined us. I am a Nikon shooter so can't help you with Canon equipment but I see that you got some helpful replies.
