Hi eveybody.

Being a Nikon shooter with D5100 & D7100 cameras & with pretty good lens range, I would like to have some suggestion from you experts.

The question is well related to using a Radio trigger for my Nissin DI 866 Mark II & Yognuo yn 685 flash system I have. All the flashes will be off-camera only.

Does the trigger Godox X1N (transmitter & Receiver) can communicate / work with the above said flashes.

Advice me, as I am very much pleased with the specs. of the radio trigger.

Thanks in advance

I don't know that particular one, but I'd stick to all components, but camera that is, to the same brand. I have a used Godox (I believe) to sell because it does not communicate with my other Yoganuo RF receivers & transmitters or other similar (knock-off) brands. Someone may know your equipment specifically.

I shot Nikon D7100 as well and would like to know the answer for myself. I do not currently use either of my Yongnuo flashes off camera, but would like to.

The answer is yes. I have 2 transmitters and 4 receivers and use them with Nikon flashes and Metz flashes as well as Nissin. They will work with any flash designed to be triggered by Nikon natively.

Thanks Mr. Brucej67 for your explanation.

Meanwhile I wrote an email to service support of godox and I got replied saying as per below in their own words copied & pasted here.

About the questions you mentioned,
Our product X1N can not compatible with NISSIN DI 866 MARK II flash and YONGNUO YN685N.

I suggest that you can choose our flashes,
due to our Godox X system,
all the products can compatible with each other.
And has more brands for Canon,Sony,Fuji,Olympus/Panasonic,
and later will have Pentax etc.
In addition, the Radio Master mode can fire and control the complete Godox 2.4GHz Flash System,
including cross compatibility with Godox 2.4GHz slave strobes for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus/Panasonic, and Fuji.

(that the system is not compatible with the Nissin (Di 866 Mark II) & that of the Yongnuo (Yn 685N) flashes.)

And now,

If the same works well with the above flashes in TTL & Manual mode then I would be happy to buy the same. Kindly recheck and reply, as my purchase depends on the final words you say.

Thanks.

First of all if these flashes when attached to a Nikon camera fire they will be tripped by a Godox receiver (doesn't that part make sense) now in order to trip them you need a Godox transmitter. I can't speak to Yongnuo flash (never had one), but did have the Nissin Di466 and it worked with the receiver, but for control setting on the flash I would pre-set before triggering it. The answer is there system will trigger the flash, but depending on flash type you may have to set the flash settings at the flash instead of using the automated setting at the Godox trigger.

Thanks for your reply.
But the real need for these triggers are to set the reqd. flash settings at the transmitter itself than at the flashes mounted on the receivers.
By radio frequency the datas will be transmitted while triggering and the flash will work according to the setting.

I have a Godox flash, transmitter and a receiver.
With the Godox receiver on my Nikon flashes, or the Godox flash with the built-in receiver, I can control the output from the Godox transmitter.
Also have a Phottix Odin transmitter and several receivers.
Works great with the Nikon flashes and the Godox flash (set to normal TTL mode) when I use the Phottix receivers on all.
Can't use a Godox transmitter with a Phottix receiver or the Phottix transmitter with the Godox receiver or Godox flash with built-in receiver.
In my experience, you have to have the same brand for compatibility.
