Is it possible to enhance quality of a "subject too far away"?

As a friend was leaving my home, I saw a small herd of deer across the road in the snow. My camera always ready (but with it's 55 mm lens on for the animalss in the house) I grabbed it to take the photo. It is cropped to bring up the subjects, but there are too few pixels to get definition. I like this shot. Is there anything I can do to enhance it.

There are some software approaches, like Perfect Resize, but in reality, if there is not enough data there is really nothing you can do . It is a pretty nice image as it is.

Well, than you also, photo guy. The reason I asked is that when I printed it out on a 4X6 it doesn't come out quite as nicely as it does with the lighted background of the computer.

I have seen your photos on different threads. They are outstanding.

Convert it to B&W & then recolor the deer to natural colors - OR
process the entire shot as a watercolor.

that really is a good photo. great use of the trees as framing. remember most photos are usualy looked at 2 to 3 feet away from the eyes. either in a print, or on a monitor. if you look up close to almost any photo you mwill notice flaws you dont see 2-3feet away. the splash of green adds to the photo .

Thank You so much. I shoot deer photos every time that I go to my relative's in Winona as they have 14 that come into the back yard so I just sit inside the patio doors and keep the camera set up and shoot away.

The pic is nice as is !

Yet, you could crop it to a 16 - 9 ratio ( by removing a bit off the top and a bit off the bottom ). That way it will fill the screen of a new monitor ( or a new TV )

Great shoot, can I have a play with the photo?

It's a wonderful shot. Perhaps there are things that can be done....I'll let others comment on that. But if someone had painted this, it would have even less definition, and yet we would enjoy it for it's good composition and engaging subject matter.
