At the zoo this morning we watched this giant anteater spend a long time bathing meticulously - more so than many people I have no doubt! Taken with a Canon 6D with the Canon 100-400 MK I lens at 100mm. ISO ranging from 5,000 to 12,800.
First I wash my beautiful bushy tail.

Then I wash my back.

Then I wash my shoulder....

Next I wash my chest.

Now I flip over and do the other side!

And I ALWAYS wash behind the ears!

At least it seems to be enjoying itself Steve.
You've captured a very charming and side of this unusual animal. Well done and a pleasure to see.
Super-cool. I don't recall if I've ever seen an ant eater live and in person, let alone one showing such engaging behavior!
Those are great shots of that anteater, Steve. They are very interesting and kind of humerus to look at.

When you look like that, being clean is about as good as it gets.

Thanks - I wanted to give her a washrag and bar of soap!

Cute. Looks like she was having a really fun and relaxing time - but a bath always makes a gal feel like new.

Thanks. I now have great respect and admiration for this creature. It makes it seem pretty intelligent to see it being so fastidious with cleanliness!
Great shots, especially with such high ISO!
