These are from one of my favorite places on the planet: Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Monterey California. I have been attending races there since 1962 (before I was old enough to drive) and have been there dozens of times, the most recent being at the inaugural Spring Classic vintage car races May 19-21. I took about 7,500 photos over the three days at the track with my Canon 80D. While photographing cars at turn 6, I noticed an interesting pattern in the hillside above the turn. It has never caught my attention before. I suspect the "texture" is more pronounced this year due to the very wet winter we had. Or, maybe I just never noticed it as a photography subject. Anyway, I think many of you will find it interesting. The third photo provides context.
Interesting patterns & good shot of turn 6. I was on the board-of-directors from 1999 to 2004 (Race Operations Committee) and don't recall ever seeing anything like it around the track.
Very interesting shots, DJphoto!
