Finally getting around to posting these shots taken with my Lensbaby Velvet 56. Like all Lensbabies, there is a learning curve, but I found there's less of one with this lens. I think the biggest challenge is choosing the background. Enjoy!

Jane, your images seem 'dreamy' and ethereal and perhaps there is a place for this type of photography in the arts books; my preference when photographing flowers is to go tack sharp with great detail. Nevertheless, the effect you have achieved is very pleasant and in my view perfect for a greeting cards and exhibits. Good work!

I'm in love!!!! Now I know why Kathleen cried the first time she used this lens!!!
Beautiful images, Jane and I'm happy you finally posted these beauties from your new baby!!!
I can't pick a favorite, but if I had to, it would be the coneflower, only because I love shots taken in portrait orientation.
Keep clicking and posting!!!

Thanks for your visit, Julian. I agree that the soft focus of the Lensbabies aren't for everybody, but it's nice to switch it up once in a while. One of my favorite lenses is my Nikon micro 105mm, which gives the tack sharp focus and great details. I must be in an "exploring my artsy side" phase. Thanks again for visiting and your comments.

Thanks, Angela! I was surprised that out of the 50 or so shots I took, I like 10 of them. That's a pretty good percentage considering it was the first time using the lens. I didn't cry, but I was really happy with the results. Maybe I'm just getting used to manual focus. Haha!
Rain again today. I hope the new baby doesn't get wet in this mess!

Thank you, Carol. Despite the learning curve with the Lensbabies, I'm getting used to it and love the results.

Thanks so much, Pierre. I know the soft focus doesn't appeal to everyone, but it sure is fun to play!

It amazes me that some people who don't own Lensbaby products see Lensbaby photography as not "sharp" as in 'out of focus', but it's not that way at all. Lensbaby photography can be as sharp (I'm starting to hate that word ) as images taken using other lenses. Thank goodness Julian is kind and complimentary even though he prefers a different style. It looks like you chose a wide aperture, Jane, and your work is absolutely beautiful.

I totally agree with you, Donna. Lensbaby's motto is "see in a new way." I believe that's what we're trying to do. It's not for everybody, and I get that, but I think Lensbaby photography is stunning! I'm seriously thinking about starting a Lensbaby section, so when you have a chance, PM me to let me know what's involved in managing a section. There won't be many of us, but at least we can post in peace! Haha! Thanks for taking a look and sharing your thoughts.
