I haven't tried whistling to one, but I do find them fascinating and quite beautiful. I wish they were more plentiful here.

No Mom - it is a big pond, they came 100' from the water to see me; I spent a lot of time there shooting and fell in love with the little Gallanippers and I whistled to them, the grown-up babies still remember me. Their Moms and the whistler's Moms tolerated them interacting with me also; their all teenagers now anyway. There is a pair of Nippers that defend like 50 feet of bank. They love the Whistlers and they are allowed to use their territory! No others are allowed to hang around.
