I already have that pleasure with a pair of Nikon D750s. It's easy to use, has all the features I need, and it performs very well. I have no desire to buy the next version of that camera.

I would have to say my Canon 5DIV. I'm not sure I would want to give it up even for a 1DxII. The 5DIV is the best all-around camera I have ever owned.

Best at nothing....awesome at everything!
7fps ...good enough for sports....30mp....good enough for landscapes....4k crop....good enough for video...best AF system on the planet...(ok maybe its best at that). High ISO performance, low light performance , shadow recovery, great DR....outstanding!

Love it.

....now about that little flirtatious Sony A9 that keeps winking at me...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100

Small size, four-thirds sensor, Leica lens, extensive controls.

If I was limited to one camera for the rest of my life - it would be the SONY HX50V.
Reason: It is a small camera that can fit in my pocket and can go anywhere I do.
The one I have has given me photo's when it was not convenient to lug around my DSLR.
It has full manual capability and a good zoom range. ( Lens not digital)

Back in the day, my F3's went everywhere and did everything for me. With digital, I'd settle for the rest of my life with my current camera, the D810. I like how the controls work, the various file sizes you can get, plus many, many other things that make this model a keeper. Plus, like the F3, it's a real workhorse; it has never let me down. I'm thinking about getting another one, now that the pricing has come down.

Canon 5D Mark IV. Love everything about my D750 except the loud shutter noise. I often shoot close to people who are speaking or video cams recording people who are speaking. The shutter doesn't just snap, it claps.

Hi, Good choice; The D810 is a nice camera. I am a senior (in my 80's) and taking a FF camera for a walk to the park with me is, with the glass, too heavy. I had been using a D7100 - but found the menu system a pain, so I bought the D500 primarily for the buttons and ease of changing settings.

Toss up between the Nikon D810 and D500 - one camera, guess it would have to be the D5, if money were no object.
D810 for the landscape and still life capabilities. D500 for the FPS, focusing and extra reach. D5, I believe, combines the best of both except the reach, which would be OK given all else.

I would go with my Nikon D500. I choose that camera is because of its superb image quality, tough build, extensive weather sealing, and its incredible autofocus system that can focus at low light levels (-4EV). Another reason is because it's a DX format camera - the camera and lenses are lighter than full frame FX format cameras. It helps when you carry the camera around for hours.

I would like to see a list of all the cameras chosen by UHH members here. Can you make a list?

I'm sorry but I do not have time to compile a list. Would be interesting however.

Quinn, on this site many folks are simply unable or unwilling to provide a direct answer to a direct question. One basically has to live with that common failing or leave the site. Unfortunately, there is no cure for it. In my view, since Administrators have provided an ignore feature, they should also give those who start a thread the ability to delete posts they don't like.

Leica M-A all mechanical rangefinder. Most of the enlargements I have printed and framed were taken with film rangefinders even though I shoot with digital too.

This camera is a new version of a classic. Will last unlike digital. When traveling, no battery to worry about charging. No electronics ban when flying/traveling. Small. Perfect ergonomics for a walk around, travel memories camera. Can use with very small and light weight tripod, even a small $6 table top version. I could go on and on. Summicron 50mm lens if limited, but a three lens kit is small and light for travel.

Second choice, my Nikon F2 photomic. Bit heavier kit, similar reasons.

On the silly aspirational list I think the LS911 is going to be the winner.

For realistic, general purpose camera usage, pretty much any Canikon from the last 5 years will do most things fine.

That is my choice also, Jerry. But the D7200 and D500 run a very close second. I wonder if I would feel differently had I used the D810.
