Leica M Monochrom. I regret selling mine, but am saving for another. Simply magical file quality.

Very interesting choice. Thanks.

Sorry, but the "forever" camera hasn't been made yet. I would say a micro four thirds camera the size of the E-M5 II with 6k video, 24MP sensor, 60fps video, and handheld hi-res. It would be delivered by the brown hovertruck, and would be used for shooting pigs in flight.

If you don't like the rules, don't play the game.

Which one?

Final choice 8x10 view. Will always be able to make my own light sensitive plates as long as there are chemicals.

I would go with my Nikon D500. I choose that camera is because of its superb image quality, tough build, extensive weather sealing, and its incredible autofocus system that can focus at low light levels (-4EV). Another reason is because it's a DX format camera - the camera and lenses are lighter than full frame FX format cameras. It helps when you carry the camera around for hours.

I would like to see a list of all the cameras chosen by UHH members here. Can you make a list?

For me it would be my Sony a99ii. At 42mp it has the resolution to shoot high res landscapes. At 12 frames per second, it is competitively fast with the very fastest. Its AF is competent, its feature set as a stills camera, complete. I don't shoot much video but it'll do 4k easily (FF or super 35) with some limitations, 120 FPS 1080.

I'm getting to where I think that way on things. We are living in our "feet first house" and our last RV is on order.

But cameras are still maturing at a rate that I don't think I'm done yet. When Nikon comes forth with a mirrorless APS-C that takes existing lenses that might do it. Hope they put an articulated screen on it.

For me, it would have to be a camera I'd feel reasonably confident that it will still be operational (or at least easily repairable) 20, 30 years from now. So probably not a digital camera. Too many electronic components in them that can go bad, and from my experience, LCD display screens seem to have a somewhat limited lifespan. (Without the screen, a digital camera is just about useless.)

Perhaps a Rolleiflex or the like.

Beyond my likely time left...

I wouldn't hold your breath, but I think that they will, so enjoy the RV, live well and I hope you can get that puppy when Nikon does give birth to it!

Sony RX100IV: small, lightweight, tilt flash, tilt screen, beautiful video, big sensor, features galore. I hope to always have one.

Please elaborate on the reasons for your choice if you wish.

It would have to be my Leicaflex SL, for it’s reliability. Bought it new and probably 80% of all my pictures were taken with it. My SL2, also bought new, is probably a little better (more sensitive meter), but the SL was my first Leica so I’m partial to it. I’d hate to have to part with either one of them.

When I bought my D7000 I figured that it would be my last camera. It would do everything that I needed. Now I have the D500 for the reasons previously stated. My photo satisfaction/keep rate has gone up so at this time I see nothing that would replace it for me I really enjoyed my FE and if it weren't for the costs associated with shooting film....
