Sounds like the author wants high-fives and other bromides instead of reality.
Truth of the matter is many photos presented for critique are awful and sometimes
there is no other way of saying so. Case in point is the author's photo of the
infant on the flowers. This is a dreadful picture on so many levels. I don't see
any redeeming qualities at all and the only positive thing I could say is she makes
a sleeping (hopefully) baby appear deceased and she has the capacity of using every
garish color possible. Sorry, dude but that's as nice as you're going to get for that
picture.

Ricardo:
Your comments make me think that you are the product of a typical brutish High School football coach that is nothing but a bully. If anything doesn't fit your "ideal", then attack it, rip it apart and spit it out. And while your victim cowers off to lick their wounds, YOU can strut off feeling like the BIG MAN that only you think you are. Bottom line, no one is listening to you.

Well, ImTrying, you were listening. And you'll probably listen to this too:
Bottom line is when someone tries to pass off garbage as art they are deserving
of a critical trashing. The author of the article was only interested in attaboys.

Sadly, as evidenced from the posts above this, many on UHH will miss or ignore the point of the article. Small egos crave that rush they get from tearing down others and thus they won't be receptive to the idea that constructive critizsm is more effective than sarky rude comments. Constructive criticism is more effective if the honest goal is to give advice for improvement. However the goal of snarky rude comments is to boost small egos at the expense of the poster. So different goals apply for the trolls.

But thank you for posting! I found the article useful because it reflected my philosophy about critque, and it reinforced for me, that I am doing the right thing when I respond with a critique.

Thank you, well said.
I don't think he understood me, I doubt that he understood you.
