If anyone is still monitoring this thread, I thought I'd update you with the latest: I upgraded my camera to the new D7500 today. While the D7100 seemed to function normally, I think the newer, lighter body will be more to my liking, as will the better low light photography. The only drawback to me is the lack of a second card slot. Oh, well...

I just put the freshly charged battery in it and put one of the 32Gb SD cards I pulled out of the D7100. I'll try to post some photos once I've set it up.

Dident you read the reports on that camera , every camera guy and girl give that camera a thumbs down and rated it lower than the one you have , the D7200 is a better also , it's had a lot of things taken away from it that were good .no second camera card, no video , not as high ISO among other thing , it is a bit lighter because of what they took away , I'm not kidding , Google d7500 camera test results .

I'm sure that many of us don't mind losing those items that you mention and would rate the camera higher because of the lightening that eliminating them allows.

Isn't choice a wonderful thing?

@IBM, are you sure you're referring to the D7500?

You're right. I mentioned that in my post. I use 32Gb cards, so that's not a major loss

Seriously? The D7500 has 4K video and a resolution up to 3840 x 2160 @ 30p / 144 Mbps

Again, seriously? One of the key features of the D7500 is its low-light capability, with a pushed ISO of 100 - 51200 (expandable to 50 - 1640000)

Here's what Ken Rockwell says about the D7500: "the D7500 is a killer camera, with almost all the advantages of the D500 and D7200 combined. It's got the most to all of the crazy speed of the D500, with the lighter weight and mode dial of the D7200 — for $750 less than the D500. BRAVO!"

Techradar says: "Think of the D7500 as the D500's smaller brother then – and that can only be a good thing."

Camera Decision said (when compared against the D7200): "Nikon D7500 is the clear winner of this comparison. It has a higher Overall Score and beats Nikon D7200 in all criterias.
It has better general image quality, more features, more compact body and offers more value for the money."

You didn't cite your sources, but I've found mine to be very reliable.

Oh, yes. Mine has a built-in flash, too.
