Jupiter with GRS and all 4 moons

Ok, I am cornfussled.
Tonight the wind was blowing like a banshee and yet I was able to see the GRS on my screen to focus on.
Dancing like a spider in a toaster but still more clear than the other night.
This is with the Celestron C8 with the focal reducer in place. Shot with my Skyris 236C and stacked with AS!3 and wavelets in Registax.
Trimmed and black corrected in Photoshop CC.
Pilot Jim the lost.

Very nice, what caused the odd fringe on the right side?

Very Beautiful, Pilot Jim.

Excellent!

You even got some Earth Shine in the second one.

Earth Shine. That's my story and I'm stick-in toit...

Thank you.
I am pretty sure it is from the Celestron focal reducer and might be why the person I bought my 8" from threw it in.
I haven't used it much but the blue fringe shows up in 2 different stacking methods and processing styles as well as 2 different capture programs.
Ok, so the transit on Thursday I won't use it assuming I have clear skies. Its supposed to start storming and clouding over on Thursday.
Such is my luck..
Jim the wayward Pilot.
Sigh..

Odd that it's one sided, maybe it's how it is seated? We should have clear skies by thurs, your bad luck is our good luck.

Thank you Sonny.
I love how variables effect what we do sometimes in a not so nice way..
I guess I wont use it next time I get to play.
Jim the apparently Blind Pilot.

PS I shot this with the same setup but captured with SharpCap 2.8 and Stacked with AS!2 instead of 3.
Same edgy Blech so its not the capture or the post production. (Not that I'm all that great, just consistant...)
J the UNK Pilot.

I don't find the edge thing so bad, myself.
But I'm confident you will figure it out.

I'm wrestling with something strange with my RAW files.
All the odd numbered ones seem to be "brighter" than the even numbered ones.
And I haven't been able to balance them as yet.

So something is wrong. Maybe a setting, but I haven't figured it out just yet.

Odd...did you get Nebulosity, it has a function that will balance them out.

Very cool image, at a guess the edge issue is probably based on the reducer. Maybe some mild CA. I don't do planetary so forgive me, but wouldn't you want as much magnification as possible, I would think the reducer would be detrimental. Again I very little experience in this field though.

I do love seeing the images you guys can produce of our celestial neighbors,
Matthew

Thanks Matthew,
Normally, yes I would want the most magnification I can get but I also wanted to have the most light I could get to my sensor.
This was a compromise that I won't do again. Holding down noise was great and it looked really good on screen. Visual is even better since the eyes make up for the odd look to a degree. This didn't show until stacking and with the concentrated image this stands out.
I'll be shooting without it from here out however.

Thank you Craig.
I could have sworn I replied to this post but it ain't here so I apparently didn't hit send.
Sorry.
To make up for it, go to my Flickr page. I shot a bunch of shots at our zoo this morning with the new body and Tammy Ron 600.
