a crowded, busy, and yet somehow still relaxed scene. Strangely I feel no fear for the pup. It seems like a place without rules, but still they all seem to find their place and fit in. I'm sure there are lots of rules, but traffic rules sure don't seem to be one of them, unless it is "go slow". I like the colors and the leading lines of the road

Go slow is the last thing they will do Piet, they drive at crazy speeds with little regard for the consequences. This picture was taken almost in the same spot, you can see the right hand side wheel, as we look at it, is light on the road as he swerves through the barriers and around us. The pedestrians and other road users have to fend for themselves, the trucks slow down for no one.

My lens was zoomed to 60mm and the picture isn't cropped at all so you can see how close it was. You soon get used to it... you become as fatalistic as the Indians

I should have known better... cameras freeze motion too well.

My daughter has just returned from India with tales of the scary driving techniques Graham - your pictures seem to sum it up! Love the detail and the processing, especially in the original post.

...and he seems completely unperturbed about all the tumult about him. Probably crossed that busy road a thousand times. Good image.

Graham, is it your processing that makes the distance look washed out, or the air quality? Either way, it's very effective for a feeling that the crowds and chaos go on and on with no relief. Mesmerizing scene.

It's the air quality. There is huge air pollution in many parts of India, in this small rural town traffic fumes and dust are the main problems. In cities such as Delhi, which the WHO says has the worlds worst air pollution, it's traffic, dust and industry.
