I wasn't sure what it was when I was looking at it before they came out...and now their out and wiggling all over. They look like caterpillars. Sooo, all the beautiful flowers are gone and this is what we have now! Well, I found one pretty flower to add! :)
My WAG is tent caterpillars
Yep, tent caterpillars ready to defoliate the leaves from your trees.

little mongrels!!!!!!!!!!
We get tent caterpillars here very few years. There are so many of them chewing leaves that you can hear them chewing and pooping - like rain. Yes, truly lovely.

malathion will take care of them well.... i have been using it for as long as i can remember on fruit trees, ornamentals, flowers, vegetables and nearly everything. and i am 70+. ... just use as directed.. also, all season dormant oil a few times a year early will help the mite problem. all my neighbors lost all their crabapple and weeping flowering cherry trees in the last few years. mine look very well although they did not flower well because of the very early heat wave and then sub freezing temps after bud swelling.

www.... tent caterpillars!!! Last year I was infested with gypsy moths that first started as caterpillars!!
But nice shot, Sue.... and very pretty flowers!!
Thanks for the ID Beowulf! Trouble is, they aren't "our" trees and flowers; we live in an apartment...just moved here. Sure hope they take care of them!
Sounds like that's what they are, dancers!
Thanks Jerry! Sure doesn't sound "lovely" to me!
Thanks Angela! I sure would hate to see them destroy all the pretty plants around them!
Thanks Earl...but I've been educated..they're bad and ugly and destroy plants!!!
Good shots,Sue. As soon as we used to see the tents, we'd cut them off and toss into the burn barrel. ;-)
