Light pollution? No problem!

I decided to try to get some Milky Way shots early Monday morning, but was worried about the light pollution. In this case, I like how it backlit the windmill! Shot with Nikon D750, Nikkor 17-35mm 2.8 @ 17mm, f/4 @20seconds, and ISO 4000.

I'm surprised you don't have star trails with a 20 second exposure.

A good rule of thumb to prevent star trails is to divide 500 by the focal length of the lens equals the longest shutter speed you can use!
