It was new last year, a gift from a dear friend. It was in a small container; I planted it, watered it, nurtured it, cajoled it - and watched it do nothing and shrivel and become a brown stick.
My wife Carol passed on April 20th after a long illness - yesterday, I began to putter in her garden to start bringing her garden back to its former beauty. And, there was the bleeding heart plant, five feet from where I was standing, looking glorious, full, healthy and blooming.
Folks tell me this perennial will die off and come back every Spring. This year, I know it had a little help.
Thanks for looking.
Lou, I am very sorry for you loss. What a special gift this blooming plant must be! I think getting the garden back in shape will bring you a lot of comfort.
Sorry for you loss Lou. What a great story. I showed it to my wife, she is familiar with these plants and was touched.

Lou, I am sorry to here of your loss, it's hard, I know. Tuesday it will be 6 months since my wife's tragic death. But. It is spring, the bleeding heart came back with all its beauty. The sun is shining and everyday it gets better. I have A strong faith in God and that helped me through a long dreary winter. Sitting here in Iowa, I can only hope the same from you.
Enjoy the garden, takes lots of pictures to share here on UHH. We appreciate what you are doing to bring the garden back.

Thank you for sharing your story. May spring help heal your heart!
I think your wife had a hand in this. Enjoy what she has sent you.
Thanks, folks.... ...I, too, think she had a hand in it.... I trust she will keep giving me signs... I need them so badly.
Good shot, Lou! FrJack just posted a bleeding heart and I posted some today!
