Found this Russula mushroom growing in the wooded area on our property.
That's pretty! Is it poisonous?
Excellent close up...I could use some Morels, got any of those?
Excellent closeup and beautiful color of your fungi!!

I don't think that it is poisonous but I would not eat it!
It looks like a fine portrait of a Russula Emetica; Well Done!
And, for those who have asked (if the name itself isn't a dead give-away?)... I bet you can only eat one!
After you've eaten it, my guess is that an hour or two would pass... And then we'd find you yodeling down the big white telephone?

I think you are quite right. It is also called "the vomiting mushroom".
There are apparently about a dozen people who are experts on the Russula family of fungi... Needless to say, I'm not one of them. I know just enough about them to avoid picking them when looking for fungi as food.
As you have clearly shown, fungi as nature portraiture is wonderful fun.
I need to book myself some concept time for a series of Fungi in Fall shoots. I'm scheduled to be in Hungary in early Fall, that would be a good location to take an early morning or late evening stroll through mixed woodland for some fungi portraiture. UK and U.S. also offer great opportunities around that time, you have me thinking I now need to schedule a stopover in the UK, on my way back from Hungary to the U.S.! :o)
That's a new one on me Jim! Well done!
Wonderful capture. That cap is so rich and glossy!
