We live in Southern New Jersey, USA and we went to visit the Freedom Tower in Manhattan. On the way back on the Staten Island Ferry, (which is FREE) I took this shot. Hope you like it. Colors are a little off with this upload. I don't know why.

Probably a white balance issue. Easily corrected if shot in raw, maybe even if shot in jpg.

This will probably end up in the Photo Gallery but it looks like it was underexposed quite a bit. The color is off possibly because you used a tungsten rather than a daylight setting.

You might want to upload it again with [] (store original) selected so we can look at the EXIF information.

So it's free now? My last visit, in 1990 (first weekend in the US...), it cost 10 cents - but you could stay on as long as you liked! I went back and forth several times... It definitely gives the best viewpoint for the statue.

Been free a long time now, but you have to get off and back on, security is the excuse, they do sometimes stop and walk the bomb dogs around on the boat, BTW the machines would have cost more to upkeep the the fares when the Metrocard was introduced, or so the reports said. Bob. Are you planning on coming when they open the "Wheel"?

Yes. The construction in the area is terrible. I was told the cost of going on the wheel be about $30.

The exposure and white balance look like they were OK and when I downloaded it. It does not look as dull as it does in your post.

I edited the image (adjusted the hue and saturation, brightness and contrast) and uploaded it for comparison. I ended up with a slight disconnect between how it looks on my computer and how it looks in this UHH thread.

I just calibrated my monitor yesterday so that can't be my issue.

Maybe someone else can offer some wisdom on this one.

Nice shot, very dramatic lighting.

I did not know anything was "free" in NYC.

I checked your original image using Everypixel which checks the technical aspects of the image (brightness, contrast, sharpness) and generates keywords (Statue of Liberty, New York City, Liberty Island, Famous Place, Statue, USA, Manhattan - New York City, Monument, New York State, Sky, Architecture, Hudson River, Travel, Liberty, City, Tourism, Blue, History, Travel Destinations, Cityscape). It scored it at 74.5% which is not bad.

So the problem appears to be something that UHH did to it during the upload or the display of your image.

Glad I'm not taking the ferry every day anymore, messed up parking, I doubt I'll go on the wheel as good as the view should be, too many $$$, Bob.
