This one's good as a performance image but also an educational image. Who of us knew what a Haegeum was? I wasn't sure whether to expect a kind of game or a theatre. Never guessed an instrument!

Nice composition that lets us focus on the player and her unusual instrument, and good range of tones too.

I didn't know what it was called either so I googled for Korean stringed instruments, you live and learn

Absolutely. Mr. Google is our friend.

(Earlier today I googled Red Flowers in Mississippi to identify an Indian Pink. I even got a confirmation from my favorite wildflower photographer.)

There are interesting elements here. The plastic chair makes me think this is a casual, perhaps free ("concert in the park") performance. Her posture makes me think this is one difficult instrument to deal with! The inclusion of the other two help define the scene.

And lastly, does anyone remember how on earth we learned"stuff" before Google??

It can't be easy to play without any sort of fingerboard either. The sound of the whole orchestra sounded rather discordant to my western ears.

I seem to remember being taught "stuff" at school, does that happen any more?

School was a long time ago, so don't ask me to remember. I DO remember, though, wrestling with the library, looking in the card catalog for books to look things up in. I still love libraries and books with paper pages, but do not miss the amount of time it used to take me to find the simple answer to a question.

I like how you have separated her from her companions. This appears to be quite an informal setting, is it? But so elaborate for just a street performer. . . . I'm just curious. I really like the B&W. It's very well done.

Remember encyclopedias? And we had one huge book that was called the Lincoln Library in our house. It knew everything I needed to know. Then there was always a grandparent who knew everything also! Or an aunt. Remember families?

No, Linda, those are her formal boots.

It was part of a festival on the Southbank in London, there were all sorts of performers and exhibits, lots of food too

Families have long since been replaced by glowing flickering screens.

I've never seen one of these instruments. I like the way you captured her expression. You also put the other musicians slightly out of focus. We still see them as an important part of the composition; but the woman in the foreground takes top billing, which is just as it should be. Well done.

Thanks Erich, you see the picture exactly as I do.
