Nikkor AI 300 mm F 4.5 AI-s

This is an old manual (F mount) lens. It's the version with the orange f32 marking. See Ken Rockwell write up for full explanation of that.
http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/300ais.htm

Serial # 574746. Made in Japan. JC sticker still on it.

Tripod collar and both caps included.

This lens is in excellent condition and comes with the original box, packing and documents. You can see slight surface scratching on the lens hood (built in) in the snapshot.

Reason to sell: I have a Sony FE 70-200 and an RX10 III (zooms to equivalent 600mm AOV) and am not using it, probably never will.

If you are interested in having this lens, PM me to discuss price, shipping, photos of it, etc.

What you have is an AIS manual focus lens. I see you are pretty new here. It helps if you list a price and reveal where you are located.

I did say AI-s which I think is the more correct way to say it. That is how Rockwell described it.

I am in the Detroit, MI area. I don't see how that matters since anything can be shipped anywhere, but it's not a secret.

The price should be reasonable for the lens as it is and anyone can Google the prices on eBay, B&H, etc.

Thanks for the feedback, though.

I missed the AI-S in the title, sorry. Since our members here are from all over, a location could mean that someone local to you may be more interested in a purchase. I still think that a starting price will get you more responses, but that just my opinion. Good luck with your sale.

I looked today on Amazon and eBay. There was only 1 on Amazon and none on eBay. EBay had some other 300 mm Nikkors, but not this model.
I have attached the Amazon ad from today.
I estimate shipping UPS ground would be about $20 in the continental US. I can ship in Canada to a Canadian address for about the same price.
The ad from today for "very good" is $320. Mine is, in my opinion, "excellent" with a cosmetic flaw on the lens hood that's visible in the snapshot above.
I paid $350 plus shipping a year ago (also attached).
Who will offer me $340+$20 for shipping? looked today on Amazon and eBay. There was only 1 on Amazon and none on eBay. EBay had some other 300 mm Nikkors, but not this model.
I have attached the Amazon ad from today and the one from which I bought it.

The Osprey pic was taken with this lens. I don't remember if I had the 1.4 extender on it. The EXIF does not ID the lens because it is totally manual.

Maybe I'm mistaken about the model, but an eBay search "Nikon 300mm ai-s" (and those with orange 32) reveals 30 or so.
Please provide more details about the specifics.

Thanks for the heads up. I looked again and found a few under that search term but most of them were not the same model. The model that has readable text on the back of the front end is different as can be seen. The ED model is not the same either.

This one

appears to be the same model but not in the same condition.
I am not an expert on Nikons which is why my original post included a good article from Ken Rockwell.

The Amazon listing I showed was from today and appears to be the same model but not quite in as good a condition.

If anyone is serious about his or her interest I can provide pictures of the details of mine.
Thanks.

Thank you for your feedback. I am happy you got what you want. It is not the same lens. Better or worse? I have no idea but not the same lens.

I don't know why you are doing this but the lens I have for sale is simply NOT the ED model. Either you stated that incorrectly or it's not the same lens. It cannot be both. Sorry.

300 f/4.5 ED Nikkors are going for less than you are asking for your non-ED model.

If anyone is interested in MY lens (not the ED) please reply. Otherwise, since it's honeydews vs cantaloupes, please find somewhere else to comment. Also, if you think the ED is better then buy it. The market price of mine is obvious and the supply is quite limited.

This is about the most your lens is worth:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-Nikkor-300mm-F-4-5-Ai-S-MF-Telephoto-Prime-Lens-SN563429-from-Japan/132134792797?_trksid=p2385738.c100677.m4598&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908110712%26meid%3Dcb88701a73a044b4bc0de41a6a39d0dd%26pid%3D100677%26rk%3D15%26rkt%3D48%26sd%3D302261887724

34,206 units were made from 1981 to 1994, so the supply is definitely not limited. In fact, it's the most common version out there.

Because of the image quality, only the ED versions are worth $300.
