Here is my dilemma I just purchased a studio light/flash and I can’t get it to wok correctly with my camera I have a 5d mark ll setup with a cannon 70-200 2.8 IS L USM lens when I hook to my remote trigger the camera says the flash power is off yet it will flash when I shoot, I only have the control over the flash on the studio light itself The studio light and trigger manual say it will work on a 5d ll. so what am I doing wrong, I’m stumped! And yes I'm a newbie.

What studio flash do you have? There should be some sort of power setting 1/2 1/4 etc. The easiest way is to sdjust the flash to subject distance or use diffusing material over the flash.

If you don't want the flash to fire, you have to turn the trigger off. The camera has no idea what's going on with the trigger.

Not sure what you're describing but many mono-light mounted receivers have a setting whether they are mounted to a hotshoed speedlight or plugged directly into a mono-light.
Follow the manual and make sure you have the combination switched correctly AND make sure everything is on the same channel as well!

I don't think your camera will think the flash is on unless you are using the kind of flash, or trigger that is ETTL compatible. If you don't want to trigger the flash, just turn off the trigger or the flash or both.

Some radio triggers are fire only triggers. They only have the center contact pin under the hot shoe that reads the signal to fire. Some triggers support TTL metering and have four contact pins under the hot shoe. Those units read all of the communications that occur between the camera and flash and transmit a more complex signal. I have PocketWizard Plus III and a Plus X trigger that are fire only and a PocketWizard Mini-TT1 and Flex-TT5 that support TTL metering. The triggers that support TTL mimic a flash. The camera "thinks" there is a flash on the camera. You're not doing anything wrong. The trigger you have is probably one that only triggers. That's generally the type that is used with studio strobes.

I'M sorry I can't make heads or tails of your post. Possibly telling us what make and model your studio flash units and you remote trigger and receivers are would help.

Not exactly sure what you are saying but your camera MUST be set to manual exposure. SLRs and DSLRs cannot integrate with studio lights on auto, aperture priority or shutter priority like they can with TTL flash. This is because studio strobes have manual power settings. Basically set your flash sync speed on camera then aperture take photo and if you have a flash meter then set your power on studio flash. If you haven't got a flash meter a few adjustments to power or aperture will get you going
