Killdeer on tracks

Out and about on the back roads of Wyoming and came across this Killdeer on the train tracks.

...indeed! Try a 16x9 crop (I might even go to 16x8) leaving the foreground...it will accent the rails, make the subject a bit larger and take out unnecessary headroom...just my opinion, of course...

Nice shot Sue. Knowing that Killdeer birds make their nests in gravel, I think that there is a nest somewhere on the gravel bed for these railroad tracks.

I thought the same thing. they nested in our yard where we had gravel around flower beds. :)

16:9 is also the ratio of HDTVs, if you do slide shows.

Terrifically eye-catching composition (though I agree with trimming the top), especially in b&w. Love the result and love your great eye for recognizing the potential!
