It is a pain to screw in and tends to come unscrew at inopportune times.

Maybe it is irritating that a cable with less than ten won't just use whatever it needs up to 10. Bummer!

I agree that it is a pain to put on and off,but I've never had one come off my two ten pin cameras.

Maybe that is where you are going wrong. Push it in then screw the locking cap on.
