I can understand how they could make a comedy movie with that title. The cable guy just left my house, but service is no better. I have TiVo and Spectrum, formerly Time Warner. Fortunately for each of them, they can blame each other for problems. Every few weeks I lose live TV. Netflix is fine, via the internet, but I lose the network channels. They sometimes come back after a few days. Otherwise, I call Spectrum, and they have me go through the unplugging/replugging routine, and it usually comes back. Of course, I do all that unplugging before I call them, and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.

The guy walked slowly around the house, going from the main TV to the secondary, mumbling all the time. He played with the wiring, expressed surprise at some of the connections, and made frequent trips to his truck. Most of his comments were anti-TiVo.

The latest problem, after live TV came back on its own, is a fifteen second delay when changing channels. Naturally, the cable guy blamed it on TiVo. What I have to do is find a way to get live TV - CBS, NBC, etc. - without Spectrum. I can get CBS All Access for $6.47/month, but that's just one channel. With the way Spectrum prices its "packages," it could cost me more to drop live TV.

Okay, that's my rant for the day.

I wish! They never installed cable in this area, and they're no longer installing it.

Have you looked into an interior mounted digital HD antenna? Hangs on wall, paper thin, about 12x12 inches. Costs about $50. Will pull all local channels from about 100 mi away in HD and thensome, unless you are extremely remote. I have Charter and cut cord with their stupid practices and service 4 years ago. Get better local CBS NBC ABC reception in HD than Charter ever could provide ...for free. More free local chanels too.
I just seldom watch it. Netflix and Amazon Prime satisfy nicely. Digital antenna for free HD local. Just paying Charter for Internet.

There are also exterior mounted HD digital antennas for picking up remote or hard to get signals. Lots of reviews you can read online.

Jerry, wouldn't a digital antenna work for you? Seems to me that if you had a strong signal the digital antenna would pick up the signal for the stations in question and give you a hi-def picture. Or are the Catskills too far away for a strong signal?

What about an over the air antenna if you live near a real city, I mean semi-major metropolitan area? You must if you have Spectrum. I live about 30 miles from Reno and can get all the broadcast TV stations with an antenna. I signed up for Spectrum a couple years ago when they were advertising their $29.99/mo. each deal for TV, internet and phone. Didn't take but about 8 months before the TV price was up to almost $90/month. I dropped it. Their internet just went up to $65/mo. but there isn't anything available that is as fast.

I feel your pain! I switched from ATT Uverse to TWC/Spectrum for internet access and have DirecTV. Good luck with your situation.

I live about 100 miles north of NYC. When I moved here fifty years ago, we had a twenty-foot tower on our roof with a twenty-foot antenna, with a rotor and amplifier on top of that. We got three or four stations, depending on conditions.

I feel your pain! We had Time Warner Cable, only cable company available in my city, no other form of high speed internet available. They are now Spectrum. Since the change over I can no longer use Kodi which is a program to watch free access streaming television. It worked great for years while we had Time Warner, then when switched to Spectrum it will not work at all. I have been told that spectrum alters the signal to not allow the streaming. So much for the advertised claims of improved service under Spectrum! Just another way to attack our wallets. Good Luck!

how about Direct TV??? Time Warner was/is SOOOO bad they had to change their name. As if that would make a difference. Don't you just LOVE pulling the plug and then sitting their like a schmuck for 20 seconds to make the thing work? And then watch your bill climb higher and higher to do so??? They should pay you.

We had Direct before good cable was available here. Reception was not great - rain, snow, clouds, etc. There are lots of trees here, too. We had a dual receiver on the dish and two boxes in the house. When I disconnected them, I took them to the dump. Each box had its own card which was linked to the box and to me. I know it's hard to believe, but I am the only one who could use either box.

When companies merge, it serves only the companies. Customers and employees are the losers. Think how much they spent for new graphics on the trucks and new uniforms. If they had put that money into service, customers would be happier.

Watch out for Directv! They frequently slipped in extras we didn't order, along with escalating prices. Our cost doubled after 1 year teaser rate!

Jerry, cut the cable cord and rid yourself of the harassment. Can you receive over the air channels through an antenna? I live in a small town and get 17 channels here; Albuquerque is supposed to get 60 some channels. Channels master makes a DVR that you can buy and add up to a 3 GB hard drive to record programs with. There is no monthly fee to pay either. The DVR has two excellent HD tuners (free Tv's HD puts cable and the dish's HD in the weeds) so you can record two shows at the same time and watch a third one that was previously recorded. You can even buy two of them and record 4 programs at the same time. You can get details and channel master's web site at channelmaster.com
