I invited my brother Glenn to attend a Dog Show in Raleigh, NC last Saturday. We thoroughly enjoyed it. A wonderful mixture of breeds and friendly owners. What I liked most is that just about every one of them was eager to have their dog's photos taken.

Interesting. I didn't know you would have that much access to the dogs.

The dogs are usually on leash, standing or sitting next to their owners, or they are up on a table, being groomed. Then there are the dogs in the show rings, but I usually shy away from those. I can get much closer walking the aisles.

Thank you DJD. Most of the owners haven't seen these yet ..... I process them at home, and so far, no one has emailed me for the results.

Thank you for the excellent set Bob. We just lost our Golden Retreiver so it's great looking at your images. At one time I use to show one of our retrievers and enjoyed being at shows. Thanks

George

Thank you George. The Goldens always seem to be among the favorites at just about every Dog Show I have ever attended. Here is one I shot in 2016.

Understood. I like to see a show for attack dogs. That would be fun.

Actually, they had an Obediance Ring going on. Probably too peaceful for what you had in mind I suspect.

Now you have a new venue for sales of pet portraits. These are marvelous.

Yes, I've seen obedience and agility competitions. My dogs would win a sleeping contest.

Thank you Vicki. I suspect these folks are more concerned about their dog winning points than having them photographed. But it wouldn't hurt to ask.

What you need to do is set up a booth with some very large shots mounted on canvas or something sturdy like Gatorboard and display them on the walls of your booth. Also put out smaller prints and a portfolio. You could arrange to do shots at the show and ship the finished photos later. These would really sell. The head shots are wonderful. If you do the whole animal, try not to make it look like it's floating. LOL

As I am not much of an entrepreneur, I don't think a booth is likely to happen. I'm usually too busy shooting the animals. What's nice though, is that I have a Fire HD 10 tablet that I can carry with me and from which I can show the breeders samples of my images.
