Just recently recieved as a gift from my son, a Acer Chromebook 15 Laptop.
Would like UHH's suggestions or ideas, views, etc. on downloading my images from my SDHC card thru the laptops SDHC card slot, and using one of the Photo-editing programs provided on this laptop.

Once you plug in the card to the laptop go to your File Explorer and the card should show up as and extra drive with it's own letter. Just click on that and open files as usual then move them where they need to go. The operating system should find the card as soon as you plug it in and will ask you what you want to do with the files in the card if you are using Win 8 or 10 in a popup in the lower right corner of the screen..

Chromebooks have their own operating system; they don't use Windows. However, when you insert the SD card into the slot, the file manager should open automatically. If it doesn't, look for the blue circle with white drawing of a file folder on lower left side of your screen.

1. You will need to familiarize yourself with the look of the Chromebook's file application so that you can recognize your SD card, the downloads section of the Chromebook itself, USB drive and so forth:

2. To choose a photo editing program: Use the launcher (another icon at bottom of screen) to do a search for Chromebook photo editing apps. Choose one or more, then click "add to Chrome." How to use the launcher and organize your apps:

3. After you have added photo editing apps to your Chromebook, you will be all set for the next time. How to edit photos on a Chromebook:

Lots of processing options. The Chromebook is a great little computer.

One thing I would recommend is that you buy an external hard drive and avoid saving your images to your computer's internal hard drive. They are inexpensive and will save you a lot of woes later on. You can create a folder on the external hard drive where you want to save your pictures and download from the SD card through your SD card slot on your computer. Have fun.

I use a chromebook from time to time they work great for minimal stuff. If you have one that supports the Play Store you can get lightroom and such amazing. I have a external card reader and add an external HDD as well. All works great and I am shooting a Nikon D800 and shoot RAW it handles things fine. Enjoy. Mine has 2 USB C ports so I needed an adapter but pretty much works like any other.
