Each year at Anza Borrego State Park, in the California desert the flowers bloom. There are also some very intersting sculptures scattered about. The photo opps are endless! Right now the flowers are cranking! The locals say it has not been this intense since 2005. It's best to download these.

I was there Monday and Tuesday. The place is a zoo right now. I can't believe how crowded it was on Monday. Tuesday it wasn't too bad.

Outstanding photos of the desert in bloom Brent. Wish I could have been there to see it. Am I correct in assuming that the abundance of flowering plants is because of all the rain that CA has recently had? Thanks.

I was there on Wednesday the 22nd and due to the light rain in the morning, I think it scared people away. No traffic jams, very few people. Perfect conditions.

Thank you tbell7D for the "outstanding photos" comment. Since you live in Houston, you would have to plan for it. (maybe next year) There is an online website that you can go to that will tell you exactly when the peak days are for the flowers. You are correct in your assumption of the extra rain and how it affects the desert flowers. Apparently the last time we had extra rain like this was back in 2005 and the flowers were amazing looking.

Thanks dirtpusher for the link. I was lucky when I went on Wednesday the 22nd.......it had lightly rained in the morning and there were not to many people there. Before we went, there were reports of traffic jams out there on previous days.

A good series of interesting and varied photographs.
The first photograph I particularly like the composition
and the angle of which has been taken. You almost
believe the animal is real.
Nice work.

We used to go out to Anza Borrego when I was a kid living in SoCal. Reminds me of the best years I saw back in the 50's and early 60's. Thanks for posting some very nice photos.

I remember back in the late sixties I used to go out to Anza Borrego for many different things and we hardly ever saw anyone out there loved the place used to have the blooms all to ourselves when they happened. Don't think I would like to see what has happened to it now.
