I would say it is a Red Legged Partridge.
Yep, chukar it is. And just as an aside, it sure would help ID'ing birds if you all would include where in the world you took the photo.

I'd speculate somewhere in the western USA, a high plains desert setting, one of the places you will find this bird.

These are always interesting - but you really should let viewers know where in the world the photo was taken. Birds in Australia are different than birds in the US. Birds in Arizona are often not found in New England...

I agree with rmorrison...it's a Chukar Partridge...great capture
BTW...it would help with ID if you would tell us where the photo was taken.
Chuker all white meat, hardest bird to hunt, mountains straight up the side, You must be in shape to hunt these birds. I did for a while when I lived in Montana, Crock pot with wild rice celery. Good if you like white meat
