Gear is kept in a generic backpack ready to go, extra in a fishing tackle duffel bag, old DSLR in desk drawer for easy access, Bob.
Pelican cases with reusable desiccant packs is where the bulk of my gear is kept. A couple of the smaller cameras are stored in a camera bag on a bookshelf. Spare camera bags are in the office closet.
The original boxes are kept in a two door metal cabinet in the basement.
A lot of people mentioning desiccant packs, do you all live in very humid climates, half the year I have to run a humidifier, and I'm a 1/2 a mile from the Kill van Kull, Bob.

on my dresser, in the closet on the shelves, in 8 gadget bags on the closet floor, on the chair in the bedroom, in the upstairs bedroom on the computer desk, floor, in crates and plastic boxes. also on bookcase shelves in the room. other than that, i'm really organised. i do not keep the boxes, as they take up too much room. ah, silica in the gadget bags.
my late wife, Erica, would consign me to the garage if she were still here!

Greetings, new here but a lurker... I have a question on the storage of camera gear, dust, fun gas etc. Lately I have been gathering up camera gear and was wondering how and where everyone else stores their cameras and lenses? Thanks, looking forward to opinions/discussions
Many here have a camera store in their homes; some may call it a museum. If are joining the club, put an addition on your house and go to auctions of retail store equipment so you can get some display cases.

I live in Clearwater, Fl. A few days ago the humidity was 89%. Today it is 35%. However, I keep desiccant packs in my camera bags, my storage cabinets etc.
Humidity can be a problem here. I have to remove rust from my band saw blades, table saw blades, and drill and router bits. I also have to constantly use Johnson Floor wax on the table tops and metal work surfaces to remove and protect from rust in the garage.
Ice,
I have a Gun Safe (24"x36"x 72") in which I store my cameras and accessories. Once it was used to store my guns, and now just different shooting apparatus's. We live in the high desert so humidity is not a factor, but most good gun safes come with de-humidifiers if humidity is a factor. Now all my photo gear is organized, and stored in one locked and secure place. We all have several back packs, rolling cases, etc, so it is easy to load what one needs for a particular outing and leave knowing the gear left behind will be there when you return. Too, my wife appreciates that my photo mess is out of her way! Happy Wife = Happy Photographer.

Just a suggestion. I have a cooler in the trunk where I keep the camera bag when traveling in the car. Also use it for the laptop. It can get hot in the car.
I keep my lenses and cameras in the original boxes after double wrapping; sounds like a big pain in the arse, but I have found that the method does protect my equipment well.
