Nikon Df in Black and Gold.
This special, Limited Edition version of the Nikon Df was NOT exported from Japan so they are very hard to come by here, naturally no Nikon USA warranty on them, but I have always liked the model and wanted one for my collection and I finally got my hands on one directly from Japan, brand new in the box kit with the matching Special Edition lens. I will keep shooting my personal Df, but this one will be displayed unused right next to my never used 1984 Canon F1N Gold lettered Olympics Edition I bought when shooting the 1984 Olympics in LA. They will make a nice set I think!
I don't feel the slightest need for bling, but I would say that it looks beautiful (and very purposeful).

I love my original Df, and its low light capabilities are unbelievable! But this one was purely an impulse buy for my slowly growing collection. Possible the ONLY DSLR that will ever reside there permanently. But at least it LOOKS like it fits right in amongst the film cameras!

No doubt that was Nikon's intention....

Was there a recent article stating that Nikon was doing away with the DF? If so, you will definitely have a nice collectors edition!

It looks really sharp, but probably out of my price range. I haven't seen the Canon, though I'm sure they make a nice set.

Actually Nikon sells it for the same price but only available in Japan.

I actually think they stopped making the Df a long time ago. They just sell off all they have and then discontinue it. Everyone who wants the Df and think the price is right already bought one. Those that think it's overpriced Nikon won't discount it.

Where do you come up with this drivel?

Even though I'm originally from Pittsburgh, I can't talk myself into it.

I think you're confusing the DF with the DL, which was discontinued before it made it to the market.
Unless a camera has special historical significance, I buy a camera with intent to use, not display like a museum piece. Perhaps I may handle a collector's edition camera with a little more care than I normally would with a standard edition, but it will still be used.

I said I think! I think Nikon don't intend to sell a lot of Df although I think the sale was better than they expect. But they can't sell as many Df as D810. Cutting price to increase sales on the Df won't bring higher profit. It's best to keep selling them until they run out and not making too many of them. My guess is that they stopped making the Df when they started up production of the D5.
