Uh Oh.... I feel an addiction coming on...
Hello, I'm George aka Geo. And I'm click happy....
Been lurking around UHH for a couple of weeks now. I feel an addiction coming on.
As an example, there a car site RegalGS.org that I belong to for Many many years. That site gave me so much confidence and learned so much about the "new cars" and all the electronic controls and such. I even purchased a program that enabled a person to get into the cars computer and make actual changes to the program for improved efficiency and/or performance. Plus the confidence of some major DIY mechanical repairs.
I tell you all that because....
This site seems to have that same kind of "feel" to it. Nicely busy, a lot of opinions/feedback, A great amount of variety of topics. AND, no one seems to slam another person for asking "a dumb question".
I have always liked Photography since high school, My dad once did a few gigs for weddings and did his own darkroom work, B&W back in the 60's. In high school I learned some of the darkroom activities. Then I used a duel lens camera that you had to look down at the top for the viewfinder. I don't remember it's name. But "I think" the film was "126 size" 40 years ago is a long time to remember.
These "new fangled" post production programs are so intimidating..... I have no clue what I'm doing.... And on a tight budget, If it wasn't for Me Mum's Christmas gift last year I would still be using my old Fuji 5200.
That's enough babble from me. the camera is use now and lens's are on my sig line.

Hello, George. Welcome to our addiction! I have my Dad's "twin lens" Yashica camera and it does indeed use 120 or 220 roll film. I need to take some photos with that as I still have film for it in the freezer. There are others here who still have old cameras and alot of us who have gone almost all digital. I also use Canon gear. I hope you can learn alot and get alot of enjoyment out of your photography.
Welcome to our forum!
"AND, no one seems to slam another person for asking "a dumb question".
- You haven't read enough posts. There is too much of that slamming.
Welcome aboard. If you've been reading for a couple weeks you should have picked up on the "slamming", here, it's alive and way to prolific, but that's a topic for a different discussion. As for addictive, if you enjoy conversation, it can be addictive. If you're looking to learn photography, buy some good books, read them and practice, practice, practice.

Oh you will get slammed - if only for having kit lenses!!!!
Don't worry - most of us started out that way...I kinda stuck with them too.
For PP there are a lot of free programmes - look at links and resources at the top of the page. Basic PP is quite simple to pick up - there is a PP section if you get stuck.
Enjoy the banter and the more you take part the quicker you will enjoy the learning curve.
Have fun
If you don't like slamming, stay out of The Attic.
Welcome! Looking forward to your posts and pictures. Happy shooting!
