Selling used equipment to B&H, a happy experience

I posted some Gallery shots a few days ago, taken with my new-to-me Panasonic DMC-G7 and 14-140 mm lens that I bought from B&H in New York. Loving the camera so far!

B&H has been regularly receiving my G.A.S. money for over two years now (ah, to think back on the days, pre-UHH, when I was totally content with an 8 mp Rebel and 18-55 mm kit lens)

Recent evidence to the contrary, I'm not really a "collector" of cameras and equipment, so I decided to try selling some to them. They have an online form where you can get an estimate, then you ship your gear to them pre-paid.

I felt I was realistic in my statement of the condition of the lenses and cameras I sent to them, and today I learned they accepted the gear.

I had the choice of being mailed a check, or having a credit posted to my account. Can you guess which I chose?

Hershel and Chaim, and all the hardworking folks at B&H used department...thanks so much! I'll be baaaacckk.

Linda - You're knowledgeable regarding photo gear. Did you consider the Panasonic G85, recently released as a successor to the G7? I've considered the G7 for a while now. My own impression is that the G85, tho nice, does not offer all that much over the G7 and the current price of the G7 makes it very competitive vs other crop sensor cameras. How/why are you liking the G7 at this stage?

I once traded a Nikon body to B&H. When the received it they rated it higher than I did and gave me the difference. It wasn't a lot, but it made me a repeat customer.

Ralph, I'm really not knowledgeable about gear at all This is my first foray into mirrorless too. I like the weight, the compact size (similar to my bridge camera, Canon sx50), the image quality, the awesome EVF, and the ease of accessing the settings I want.

That 14-140mm lens is reportedly very good.

It's an inch smaller in diameter and 25% shorter than my Canon EF-S 18-135 mm A great focal length range IMO. I have gotten a ton of use from the Canon lens.

I too had a good experience selling to B&H. It was a a Panasonic GX7 and Lumix 100-300. The wrote a check for little more than the original estimate!

Great tip - I usually sell my things on Ebay - but NO ONE will bid on my 7D on ebay because of this new, "must know the shutter shutter count" trend. I have tried for years to figure out the shutter count on that thing. UGH!!! I'll just send that sucker to B& H
