I have a couple of Vanguard Tracker 4 tripods in the house. They were advertised as having "fluid heads," although they are not actually filled with fluid. Rather, they are perfectly smooth. There is no jerkiness when moving the tilt and pan head, so it's perfect for video, and it's also good for stills.

Do I understand correctly that some "fluid" heads do not contain fluid but rather the term is being used generically to describe smooth action? I did not know that, not owning a fluid head. Seems rather deceptive.
