Fun light do all cameras ..
Hello group this is my first post and I'm hoping to get some useful information.
I'm an advanced amateur with a complete Nikon digital system. Getting tired of lugging these cameras and lenses around.
I'm looking for a quality fun camera with a zoom lens that I can use as a "go to " camera. I've been reading about the Canon Powershot gx3 and have become quite interested. Any comments or suggestions as to a different camera. Would appreciate all good comments. Thank you.

I used a Powershot years ago and found it to be pretty good, not like a dslr but still good. The photos were fine except when I tried to get some tattoos on someone. For whatever reason it just didn't like tattoos on human skin. ??? Like I said everything else was pretty good.

Welcome, John D'Arpino.
I love my Canon G1x. The G3x does not have a viewfinder, if that matters.

Welcome to the forum, John.
Welcome! Looking forward to your posts and pictures. Happy shooting!
I owned a Canon Powershot G10 and a G11. Both captured excellent images. I loved the swivel LCD screen of the G11 and the fact both supported RAW and external flash. My only disappointment was the relatively short zoom range. Both had very solid builds too. I sold my G11 when KEH came to town. Used the money to buy a Phottix Mitros plus flash system for my Nikon DSLR. I'd like to own a similar P&S again to chase the grandson with.
John, I looked at the G3X first-hand a couple of years ago, but was disappointed to learn that it did not have a viewfinder and that the size of the camera and buttons were annoyingly small. Having read glowing reports about it, I had come, wallet in hand, ready to buy, but after holding that G3X I changed my mind. This is a good case of try before you buy. /Ralph
I just received the Canon PowerShot g7x mark ii. It is a great camera. The pictures are sharp, Great low light. You can also shoot raw. It has a pop up flash that bends up so you can bounce it off the ceiling. I'm in the process of reading the manual now. This camera can do so much.
The G3 X is a wonderful camera, and you certainly cannot go wrong with it. You don't say what kind of shooting you will probably be doing most often, but if it will be your only travel camera you might like the better reach of the SX60. And the SX 60 is about 1/2 the price. Here is a comparison:

Stay away from the Canon G16
You might want to look at the Sony line of small, light cameras. I have a RX100v. It has electric view finder,20 MP,takes Raw,and has a Zeiss 24-70mm lens.
Gonna sell all your other stuff then?

Whats not to like about the GX3 bridge camera? It's dust and water resistant, has a 1 inch sensor, and has a 24-600mm equiv. lens. There are other bridge cameras of that type like the Panasonic FZ 1000. Any bridge camera with a i inch sensor is a good camera, just depends how much you want to spend and how far you want the zoom to be.
To everyone who is gonna suggest the Sony RX 100 series...the RX 100 series camera is a great camera but it is a compact camera with a relatively short zoom. John is looking for a bridge camera with a large zoom, there's a big difference between a compact camera and a bridge camera.
