I don't watch videos very often - I'd rather read than listen - but this Tony Northrup video does a good job of explaining Nikon's current financial situation
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uyJVCHDlzUAt roughly 16:50, he starts talking about changes he would like to see in Nikon DSLR's.
Ya know even if Nikon goes belly up we will still use our Nikons we already have just support might be tough to get. Unlike when digital hit and film went away the cameras will still be there. Who knows the news might just spur a purchase growth in Nikons. which could help them recover. I am surprised it wasn't Kodak that has failed totally. Look at all the stuff Kodak used to sell especially film and chemistry. that market dried up on them. So far I take the news of Nikon lightly but I am one lens away from where I want to be and the next lens might be Tamron.
I am a Nikon user , and I totally agree with Tony Northrup's suggestions for the Nikon lineup . Personally Nikon frustrate me with the two steps forward one step back approach to the cameras. And some of the lenses just cost too much !
If they would just go to the basics and not produce so many different models it would save their company. Sell existing and the stay with like an 810 and 7200 and only have one small one like a d3200 down sizing the scal of the different cameras might just keep them solvent.
They need a management restructure , the old ways have to go , I would like to see more manufacturing returning to Japan , and stop letting Joe public do their QC, make sure the things are made right before release.

Maybe Paul Simon will have to update the lyrics to "Kodachrome":
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don't take my Kodachrome Nikon camera away

Since you didn't use "Quote Reply", I can't be certain you aimed this at me, but as the OP I'm the default recipient.
If you had looked at the video you would have realized this response is totally off-base
(1) I wasn't reading anything
(2) No one here is claiming that Nikon is going out of business
(3) Title of thread is "Nikon is OK"
