Excellent set Jim of some beautiful boats. A great way to spend a peaceful holiday, I would love to hire one, but Bob would be dangerous on one! I would be forever watching he didn't fall overboard.

Brings back memories. On my first international vacation I went to England, Scotland and Wales with a tour company that specializes in young adults (18-35-year-olds). On one of the days, an off-the-bus day we went on a canal boat trip that lasted from one morning to the next overnighting at a dock somewhere (big party). During the trip we went through several locks, including one that was completely manual...some of us had to get out and turn the cranks that operated the gates. At lunch we stopped at a canal-side pub. It was a rowdy group with most on the tour (including the guide and driver) being from Australia. I was the only American. Are the canals still as polluted as I remember them being?

Thanks for looking in Planepics i appreciate it very much.Glad you liked them. The canals are not too bad overall now Planepics with lots of work being done by enthusiasts throughout the UK but there are still a few bad spots. In the town where i live there are still remnants of the canals left which are used mainly by visiting Anglers. We do have,so i'm led to believe the first ever lock gates and the local council spent a lot of money for the renovation work on them but unfortunately the vandals soon destroyed all the good work done and the lock gates are now in a bit of a mess.

In the last ten years I've dreamed of going over there and renting a house boat. It looks a whole lot an RV type of fun. But my health has dropped so much I guess I will no longer be able to do it.
As I've always said: Do it now or forget it because tomorrow is another different day.
