Jim, the photos are all excellent. I can see why you would want one. I would like one also to live on for the balance of my life. Move it over to the Mississippi and see a whole lot of the country. I know, however, I have dropped my anchor here in Raleigh.

Jim, the photos are all excellent. I can see why ... (show quote)

Thanks for looking in Greg I appreciate it very much.Gladcyou liked them.A lot of the boats on the canal are occupied throughout the year Greg and the mooring don't come cheap so I wouldn't mind having one just for holidays.

odd looking boats and painted very colorful. Nice set just wish you had not cut off that building and had less water. that shot is really nice. Are they Taxis

They aren't taxis Kenny, some people live in them permanently, some for hoidays and weekends and others for sailing the canals,we still have lots of them in use around the UK and the canals go through some beautiful countryside as well. Thanks foo looking in Kenny I appreciate it very much.Glad you liked them.

Interesting and colorful shots Jim, :Right now am cruising the Amazon River. The only things as colorful as your canal boats are the floating gas stations at Manaus.

Thanks for looking in Marsdad I always appreciate it.Glad you liked them. Wish I was there with you mate, that would be the icing on the cake for me.

Very good series Jim, I didn't realize canal boats were so popular.

They are very popular Earnest and some top of the range canal boats can cost a couple of hundred thousand pounds plus so it can be a very expensive hobby,I think I'll stick with photography. Thanks for looking in Earnest i always appreciate it.Glad you liked them.

Brings back memories. On my first international vacation I went to England, Scotland and Wales with a tour company that specializes in young adults (18-35-year-olds). On one of the days, an off-the-bus day we went on a canal boat trip that lasted from one morning to the next overnighting at a dock somewhere (big party). During the trip we went through several locks, including one that was completely manual...some of us had to get out and turn the cranks that operated the gates. At lunch we stopped at a canal-side pub. It was a rowdy group with most on the tour (including the guide and driver) being from Australia. I was the only American. Are the canals still as polluted as I remember them being?
