The first time I posted a link to a video here it was shuffled off to "Links and Resources". Apparantly that was because it had a link. But, to share video, you have to have a link.

So, in the spirit of trying to help this section a little, I'm offering a link to my "best seller". It is about a Revolutionary War era rifle. 100 were produced and, rumor has it, that one or two are prize possessions in someone's gun collection.

It was shot on a true Point and Shoot, the Sony HX9V. It was the first pocket camera to shoot 1920x1080p60, HD quality video. The editing was done in the low end, often maligned Premier Elements version 10 on a Windows laptop. I'm now using version 15.

I hope that any who watch enjoy it and comments are welcome.

(If this gets shuffled off to Links and Resources, I will again abandon any notion of posting videos)

Hey,hey, wait, no, no, don't abandon posting a video just because an automated machine decides to move it. These are too good to just quit. You've proved once again that it is not entirely the camera that takes good photos; it has more to do with the photographer or in this case the videographer. Excellent work, good focus, very informative and a very interesting rife

Thank you for the compliments and the encouragement. It appears it has not moved to Links and Resources, so perhaps posting video links in this section works OK.

Bill

Thank you for watching!

Do you have any fly fishing videos?

When I was a teen in the '60s a man named Letcher Lambuth taught me to cast. He gave me one of his hand made bamboo rods. Mr. Lambuth collected bugs, photographed them and preserved them in little bottles. When he died, the bug collection went to Stanford and was said to be the largest cataloged collection of Northwest insects. I think he wrote a book.

Lambuth was friends with Roy Patrick who had the only fly fishing/tying store in Seattle. With Roy's materials, coaching and book I learned to create some basic patterns.

I stopped tying and (sadly) don't fish as often as I should.

Hi Bill,

Over the year, my wife and I have produced 27 90-minutes fly tying videos. In the early 00s, we converted them all to DVD. In the mid 00s, we converted several of them into hard bound books. Now in the digital age, we are converting them (books & DVDs) into e-Books for sale on Amazon. The books (regular & e-Books) are a mix of text and photography with a major emphasis on macro fly photography. Thanks for asking and keep shooting those videos. They are quite good! Take care & ..

Great video Bill. Informative, interesting and suspensful. Excellent video and audio. Also liked the slow motion repeat.

Thank you Bob. I enjoyed your most recent video too.

One of the unique things about this video was that it was shot on a Sony HX9V that cost $340 brand new, but now out of production. A huge personal lesson was the discovery that, unlike photography, cheap equipment choices can work well.
