I shot these with the new HyperStar Lens setup on my Celestron 9.25" scope.
This setup is so sensitive at f/2.3 I have a real learning curve to overcome.
As there does not seem to be anyone I can find to help me out with what settings
to use. Medium to bright stars flare very easily. The Orion Nebula was in the frame
but too blown out to repair. This was shot with 50 exposures of 40 sec, Lights,
Darks, Bias and Flats. It was Stacked in Celestron AFX program and Processed
in Lightroom and Topaz DeNoise. Tonight I will be trying Horeshead
and the Flame Nebulas as I have a wide enough FOV to cover both.
I believe I'll be shooting 20 sec exposures tonight and hope I can pull in enough
light for the Nebulosity. I also have to wait till 21:00 to avoid the dreaded flip.
Sincerely,
Craig

OMG, craig, that is great. There is a bit of a learning curve with these really fast scopes. First thing I learned was that AFX is good for quick pix, but you have to go to PS. Also you will find that you have to layer in shorter exposures for the blown out areas. If you want some of my very limited experience, PM me and we can arrange for a quick phone call. Sorry limited to weekends tho.

I'm jealous.
That is awesome Craig.
You have a great start with this.

Thank you JimH. I did spend a while on this shot to bring out the contrast of The Man.

Thank you very much Jim and I've seen your work and you have nothing to be jealous of.

Awesome Craig!
Good to see you are out and about.

I think I see things in abstract.
Running Man is the dark between the nebulousity, right?
I look at that and I see two female shapes, possibly dancing.

Thank you very much Sonny good to hear from you.
And yes the Man is the dark field in the Nebulosity.
Annette saw a teddy bear so anything works.

We have liquid sunshine here today. Stranger still, Betty and I both find it rains more in the backyard than the front.
Where is our California clear skies???

How do you get widefield shots of the entire Orion Nebula, and then tight in shots like this?
