when american japanese citizens were forcibly incarceration in camps, losing their property, civil rights and freedom. Ansel Adams and Leonard Frank spent 2 years documenting American citizens imprisioned in these camps. interesting to note considering our latest found "enemy".
Leonard Frank was a Canadian and documented the internment camps in British Columbia. A few years ago while touring that province I stumbled upon a small museum in a rural town in BC that displayed many photos about the internment of citizens of Japanese descent in Canada during WWII, an internment camp having been near this town , and realized for the first time that the US was not alone in this practice. These photos by both of these photographers are moving and a compelling indictment against abuse of human rights by government power.

I would rather be careful than have happen in our Country what's happening in Europe.

yes, but to what extent? it should be remembered that we in the U.S. have the great advantage of being geographically isolated. the European nations do not have that advantage, and so, things, sadly, have occurred there.
depriving American citizens of their rights and property because of race, or religion is not the function of a democratic republic. everyone of us, with the the exception of the native nations, came from immigrant stock. and a lot were greated with signs such as "no dogs or irishmen" on storefront doors. we conviently ignore and refuse to acknowledge our own domestic terrorism. it takes more lives each year than any, with the exception of the twin towers, foreign act of terrorism.
we forget, that in the 1970s for instance, we had a bombing, each day, from domestic underground groups, none of which were made up of foreigners. most were white, college educated people.
It's a 90 day hold to straighten out the vetting process, it's not permanent. This should have been done years ago. Many of these people will do fine as immigrants and believe me I know that first hand because My Grandparents, my mother and my wife are all LEGALE immigrants and American Citizens. For anyone to come in here illegally or for any other reason other than to assimilate into our society is a slap in the face to every legal immigrant here in this country now. Look at France right now with their no go zones where these so called immigrants are hold up in barricaded areas trying to bring their society into France with absolutely no intention of assimilating into French society. This is happening all over Europe. I think that people that are here now without documents should be given a chance to register (give them 6 months) so we know where they are and where they are working and give them temporary green cards. Allow them to go through the process of staying here permanently just like every other permanent resident. If you are caught without that green card after 6 months your probably a felon and you will be immediately deported. On the other side any American business caught hiring undocumented workers and paying them less than minimum wage and not taking out their social security and taxes should be fined $10,000 a day per person. This won't take away any jobs for Americans because for the most part many of these businesses would rather hire the now undocumented because they work harder. Level the playing field and make the other Americans realize they have to compete in the job market again.
thanks for your thoughts. having been in Paris in the last few months, i can assure you there are no "no go zones". the police move freely throughout all areas.
it should be noted that acts of terrorism, here in the U.S. have not been carried out by any immigrants, but by all who are citizens. some radicalised by websites and others simply white terrorists and the most dangerous of all, by mentally ill people with easy access to weapons.
hear hear, wish the politicians here in UK would have the balls to do something proactive
