Did not view all of them -- But what I saw did not look bad at all -- Photo 2/15 is in my for sure non-professional opinion a damn fine photo --- Wish I had taken it

That's the problem with photo contests. You end up with what the judge likes. Now, as to the picture they chose here, it's not a bad picture. Is it good enough to win a National Geographic photo contest? Evidently the judge(s) thought so.

Well my "assumption" with this NG contest is that these are photos submitted & taken by folks that subscribe to this specific NG's publication --- We at our house get it --- now their my be a ringer or two sprinkled in --- But for the most part the majority of the photos are probably from folks that do not now or ever aspire to make their living with a camera --- I have been on a number of NG travel tours to various parts of the world --- The overwhelming number of photos taken on these trips were taken with cell phones --- With me taking shots with my Canon 5DII -- Well now --- That made me the one eyed man in the land of the blind --- I of course did not enter any of my stuff in any of NG Trip contests -- But I did end up supplying most of my fellow travelers with good enough usable photos --- Still wish I had taken 2/15 --I would make a nice big print of it & hang it on a wall

For the most part I thought the photos were really good. NG has always been one of my favorite magazines.

Well I don't see any real issue with any of the images. I saw several I wish I had taken or had the opportunity to visit the location to shoot my own pic.

I would imagine that life as a NG photographer is pretty nice.

About what I'd expect from NG. Nice, generally pretty, easy to look at, safe pictures.
Not taking any chances, don't want to offend anyone kind of pictures.

I guess you thought the Little boy with pink hair and dressed like a girl is your thing is it your thing ?
That child so young will be confused for life, I thought N G was a good mag until they decided to cram gender identity down my throat . Jan 2017 issue Cover. They should stick to travel not child abuse. They lost a lot of sales that is from people with a mind/
