I've tried tethering with Lightroom, and while it is nice, I prefer Nikon's Camera Control Pro because it controls everything that you can control on the camera where Lightroom only allows for the major stuff. However, Camera Control Pro only works with Nikon and you have to verify which camera. My D7100 and D610 work with the current versions but my D70s control rolled out in the upgrades.

I've never had the need or desire to tether, but I should try it someday.

Don't get me wrong about Lightroom, Jerry. It is a good program but doesn't give you all of the control that Camera Control Pro does. Which, by the way, if you are just wanting to experiment, Camera Control Pro comes with a 30 day free trial, which would give you a chance to experiment with it for free. http://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/products/165/Camera_Control_Pro_2.html
