They missed the most important point. Don't stop to take a leak when looking to photograph animals in the wild. you'll miss the shot.

I think the first rule of nature photography should be the same as the first rule of medicine: DO NO HARM

the other side of the coin is don't squat to do your business or the huge buck you have been tracking will be watching you from 40 feet away.

I definitely agree with the "do no harm" rule. Thanks!

I must have missed something. While tips on composition are useful and needed by folks like me, I was hoping for tips on photographing nature.

Do no harm is mandatory as others have pointed out. Another is don't be stupid. In photographing animals, especially carnivores, never forget you are either food or danger to them. Get too close and you will learn they aren't the cute, cuddly, loving creatures depicted in Disney or Pixar films. By close I mean somewhere between a football field or the "I can run 40 mph to your 35 mph" distance. I am forever amazed at the totally inexplicable actions of some people who try to get "just a little closer" to an animal for a photograph then are astounded when the animal reacts on its terms. I'm convinced that "I (he/she) wasn't doing anything!" is often heard when the injured or dead are recovered from a natural encounter. Never forget you are in their living room and you are the guest so act like one.

Very few would intentionally do harm but we humans just can't seem to get over ourselves and try to "help" the poor animals. One of the most problematic is feeding them thus causing huge problems, including certain death for some, by trying to be kind even though a feeding station is the easiest way to get some really great photographs.
