Nice photo but it is hard to believe that you froze your butt off in July

From the looks of the image I would say it was worth it. Nicely done.

I have seen snow in July in Montana. It scared the daylights out of a group of easterners in the Bob Marshall Who came by us on the way out because they thought they would get snowed in.

Nice photo!
Were you walking from Hurricane Ridge or Deer Park?
I have hiked many trails in Olympic National Park over many years.

I was surprised it was that cold too. Port Angeles is the town below on the north coast of Washington just 25 miles south of Victoria BC. I think the elevation is around 5000 ft and it was VERY windy. I did some star trails later that week at another location and had to wait in the car. Night skies are fantastic out there. I think it was in the low 40's that morning.

Didn't hike any while I was there. I mostly drove around the outskirts of the park to get to various locations like Ruby Beach and some of the waterfalls. Since it was my first time, I didn't realize that you really had to be hiker to see the inner sites of the park. I also spent some time in OR too at Crater Lake. Since it's a 33 hour drive from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, it really cut down my time there. Next time I go back, I'll do a little more research into the park and maybe hike and camp.
