More recent Bird images

I have been going thru some files and found a few more recent images I wanted to share. The Grebe was taken Henderson, Nevada bird sanctuary (5DIV, 600mm IS II + 1.4Xiii converter). I don't recall the term used for light variations of birds, starts with an "L", but love its hair do. The management of the sanctuary were arguing what type of Grebe this is. If you have an opinion, I'd appreciate it. This shot was taken at f/5/6. Considering the beak is out of focus, in retrospect I wish I had gone to f/11. Live and learn. The Brown Pelican was taken at Newport Beach, CA (5DIV, 400mm DOII + 1.4xIII converter). I had previously posted a similar shot of this bird, but this one is better considering the feet. I consider this to be one of my better Brown Pelican flight shots. The AM light was absolutely perfect for showing off their feather detail and coloration. The preening Ibis was taken at the Merced NWF. I think it is a White Faced, but not sure. The coloration of this bird when in the right light is pretty astounding.

Hope you enjoy. Comments, pros and cons, are always appreciated. Its an ongoing process to improve. I haven't been out for about three weeks now. Lots of rain in Southern California and we need it but my right index finger is getting itchy.

The word you are looking for is leucistic. But I still don't know which grebe it would be. It has a pretty long neck so it might be a leucistic Western Grebe. But with that red eye, it might be an Eared Grebe or a Horned Grebe.
