My wife and I have numerous discussions as to how a picture should be cropped. One likes to fill the frame the other does not. Attached are 2 sets of pictures with different crops. Which do you prefer and why?
I would crop enough so that it fits in the gallery.
What do you mean when you say "fit in the gallery"?

You put your topic in the wrong section.
I believe that every part of an image must contribute to the offering. I have coined a word. We all have heard the word "cacophony" which is a combination of the Greek words meaning "bad", "inharmonious" or "unorganized" and "sound." My word is cacophoty meaning bad or disorganized light which is what the world presents to us every moment of every waking hour. My photography is an attempt to organize or impose my individual sense of order on light by selecting and adjusting the numerous controls on cameras, lenses and positions to eliminate those elements that detract from harmonious organization of visual elements. The exercise is contemplative and the product, a carbon transfer print, is not an attempt to manipulate but an offering of my sense of order and beauty.

They are all good, it is a matter of personal preference.
I like the all but prefer the tighter crop.
I prefer the zoom crop with the birds large this time. You can go back and label or number your post pictures to make it easier to discuss. David Great discussion. More people should ask for advise now and then.
Both sets of images are nice....i prefer the tighter crop on both sets. The branches that their standing on give greater detail that adds to the image in my opinion.

What is the "subject" of the picture(s)? If birds are the subject, then I prefer the tighter crop in both cases. If, on the other hand, the subjects are the branches and berries...?
You suffer fro the TV syndrome.
Ever considered shooting vertical or cropping that way?
You could also go square.
Thanks for your kind remarks
I'd seriously consider a vertical crop because of the tree.
