Sharpshooter has one and seems to love it for his type of shooting. What do you plan to shoot with it?

I like to take landscapes, seascapes, birds and flowers. How large are the raw files?

Fricking huge! That's why I opted for the 5D Mark IV. 30mp, 7fps, touch screen, WiFi, GPS, dual pixel focus in LiveView, auto focus tracking in LV, Dual card slots, customizable LCD, same battery works in 7d, 7D Mark II, 5D III, etc,

I use one for everything, including sports. It's a great camera and not only can you get amazing images but you can get more "reach" with your lenses.

Anyone who spends $3,500 for a camera will tell you it great, anyone who bought alternative will tell you why their decision was best. Get opinion from trusted pros who get the camera from the mfg for free to evaluate they will tell you pro and cons

30 mpxls is the sweet spot. Going further has compromises. Usage is more of a nitch for the 5Ds.

I love the 5DS R for landscape and particularly macro work. A high percentage of my shooting is focus stacked macros. The richness of the detail, particularly in enlargements, can be breathtaking. It does not compete with the better noise handling, higher dynamic range, higher ISO of the 5D Mark IV or the The latest 1 series. If those considerations are primary, if frames per second is important, then other Canon bodies may be better suited to your needs. That said, I love shooting with the 5DS R. It does exact a bit of a premium in that even the slightest camera shake is captured in sharp detail. That is not typically a factor when I am on a tripod. But I shoot at higher shutter speeds than I previously used for the focal length, when hand holding.

Question, dual card slots, does it use the same type card in each slot?

I have been using one for almost a year. I bought it after my 6D was stolen. I have never been so satisfied with a camera as I am with this camera. No matter what I am shooting. Sports - Wild Life - Family, everything The image quality is unsurpassed and rivers some of the so called medium format cameras.
